    Abstract
This chapter assesses the effectiveness of the Office of the Auditor General as a key pillar of the national integrity system in Botswana. It gives an overview of the laws and rules governing the establishment and operation of the Office, and how are these translated into reality. The chapter focuses on the role, structure and resources of the office, as well as its independence, accountability and integrity. Issues of transparency, complaints mechanisms, and the relationship with other pillars are also discussed. The chapter ends with a conclusion and recommendations.
