This article discusses the challenges faced by most families in Botswana and the familial and social nets these families rely on to overcome the challenges. Both primary and secondary data were used to gather information. In-depth interviews were conducted with represenatives of various tribes to get their perspective on the topic. HIV/AIDS was found to be at the centre of all social, economic, moral, spiritual, and emotional interaction among family members. Its impact is challenging traditional thinking about family structures and family life and necessitating their redefinition.en_US
