dc.description.abstract | “Relation between Generational Heights of Sibling’s and their Parents –A case study of some selected Ethnic Groups (Bakwena, Botlokwa and Balete) in Botswana” is a study to statistically investigate height differentials on ethnic groups and the effect of ethnic groups on generational height. The treatise is divided into five chapters. Chapter one is the background information which include a brief history of Botswana (Ethnic groups), rational of study and the goal of the study. Chapter two is a review to show the extent of study done so far on evolution of human height, individual height in relation to age, human height in nutrition and fulfillments. Chapter three deals with the method employed in the data collection, design and the model adopted. Since there is no documented information on relationship of height of parents and their children, a firsthand data was collected from randomly selected subjects of resident of Molepolole, Ramotswa and Tlokweng of tribes of Bakwena, Balete and Batlokwa respectively. A two way layout with interaction and multiple but equal number of observation in each cell analysis of variance model was adopted to statistically investigate the effect of ethnicity on generational height and multiple linear regression was used to assess the contribution of height of parents and grandparents on their children. Chapter four contains the descriptive statistics and data analysis and findings. Chapter five is the summary, conclusion and recommendation. The study found that ethnicity has effect on generational height and the contribution of parents to children in paternal generation is higher to the contribution of parents to children in maternal generation. For decisive evidence the study should be conducted over a large geographical area and more ethnic group should be incorporated. | en_US |
